Ethan and I first met on the 13th December 2012. We met through a mutual friend of ours and hit it off straight away. On our first date he picked me up in his car and we drove around for hours talking about absolutely everything. We started dating officially on the 22nd October 2013 and he proposed on our 2nd anniversary.

The Proposal
I was getting my hair done at one of our bridesmaid’s houses that evening as we were leaving on a 3 week trip for overseas the next day. Ethan was coming to her house after work to see me but he was running late, or so I thought. After she finished my hair she went into her room and brought out a bunch of lilies for me with a card from Ethan – inside the card was a lovely message from him and a note saying we were going to have a bit of fun and that Claudia was going to take me somewhere. We hopped in the car and she blind-folded me and drove me across town to the Wool Wash where we first kissed under one of the trees by the river. At the base of the tree was a mason jar with a candle inside and a note leading to another place. We hopped in the car again and ended up at Emu Park at the Singing Ship. Before I got out of the car Claudia pulled out the last letter from the glove box, inside was another beautiful message from Ethan and right at the bottom it said “P.S I asked your Mum, and guess what?!

I got out of the car and walked along the path to a group of mason jars arranged into a heart with candles inside and in the middle on the heart was a ring box, Ethan then walked out from behind the Singing Ship with more lilies and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

We will be married on our 4th Anniversary with many more to come! We couldn’t be happier!!

Mackay Valentine’s Day Engagement Shoot

Hooray, it’s Valentine’s Day 2017! I feel like this year there has been a lot more anticipation and excitement than usual, and although personally we don’t normally do anything elaborate to celebrate the occasion, I believe the act of taking time out to value and cherish the one you love is hugely important – even if it’s just in a small inexpensive way! To celebrate the occasion, some of our wonderful suppliers in the region have teamed up to bring you a Valentine’s Day real engagement shoot for sweet Mackay couple, Krystal & Dean. Valentines-Day-Engagement-shootOur Love Story

One of my favourite quotes about love is by Elizabeth Gilbert, “To be fully seen by somebody, then, and be loved anyhow—this is a human offering that can border on miraculous,” from ‘Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage’.  This is something I have found with Dean, with him I can be my absolute self without shame or being reprimanded. I am loved unconditionally. This is what makes us work, I love him for him and he loves me for me.

Dean and I met whilst swiping right on a popular dating app. There was an instant connection, wifi puns aside, and without being too cliché, it truly was as if we had known each other for years. We bonded over our love for fitness and zest for travel. We are best friends, I have the most fun when I am with him, he makes me laugh until my belly aches. We aren’t without our faults, we do argue like all couples, but we always make up and move on.

The Proposal

Dean proposed on the 25th October 2015, on the top of Mount Jim Crow in the exact spot he first told me he loved me – this was also in my home town of Yeppoon which also held sentiment. It was in the middle of the day, I complained the entire way, dripping in sweat and covered in dirt. I wasn’t suspecting it in the slightest. He proposed with a specially made ‘penguin pebble’ (penguins give a perfect pebble to the mate they choose for life) then followed with a self designed rose gold diamond ring. We then left for Fiji the next week for a romantic get away and enjoy some time to soak it all in.

The Wedding

We are planning our wedding for the 2nd September 2017. September is my father’s birthday month, and as we lost him last year, it means a lot to me and makes it feel as if he is a part of it all.

Our ceremony will be held at Queens Park followed by a ceremony at Paxtons Warehouse. We cannot wait to celebrate our love with our closest friends and family
