Introducing Vanessa (Nessy)

A couple of weeks ago I started introducing some of our vendors to you – it’s always great to put a face to a name and in our case, a face and personality to the business brand! Considering so many hours of your wedding day are spent in the company of a photographer, it’s really important that you connect with their personality and keep this in mind as much as portfolio and price when choosing who to go with. Today I’m continuing with our introductions to help you get to know the lady behind Vanessa Eyles Photography a little better! Read her interview below!

I am a wife & mother of two beautiful girls and my one true love, besides my family is photography. I dream about it, I drive my friends crazy talking about it, see it, live for it and I just simply LOVE it. I run my own studio called Eye Spy a Studio where specialised shoots can be booked in Rockhampton, and I travel all around CQ for weddings.

I believe that photography can show us, all is not as it appears to be – it allows us a chance to recreate for a brief second a treasured moment and turn the ordinary into the extraordinary for moments that last forever.

I love all aspects of photography and must say I don’t have a favourite type of image I like to take. It’s more that I just love the feeling of the camera in my hand and waiting for the moment to capture something creative. Sometimes when you least expect it, it’s just right there in front of you.

I specialise in many genres: wedding, formal maternity, portraiture, family, boudoir and glamour, costume & styled fine art themed shoots.

I’ve completed a TAFE course in Media Studies and I’m an AIPP accredited and an award winning photographer. I love to capture the little moments and love the little details in life.

I look forward to hopefully meeting many of you and capturing something special for you to treasure forever. Let me give you the images that will make you remember a moment, bring forth a smile or a tear to your eye, or simply make you laugh and see yourself exist in photos.

Amy & Owen’s Botanical Gardens Engagement Shoot by Madelyn Holmes Photographics

I think there is something simply magical about the engagement season, so I’m excited today to share a little bit of that magic with you – Amy & Owen’s engagement shoot as captured by Madelyn Holmes Photographics at the Rockhampton Botanical Gardens.

MHP_8657Tell us your love story!
Owen and I met when I had taken my first new car into an exhaust shop to enquire about getting an exhaust system. Cheekily enough, he asked for my mobile number and told me that he would text me one day when it was not busy to come in and he could do the exhaust for me. That afternoon I had a message on my mobile asking what I was up to on the weekend – the rest was then history!

Owen proposed to me on my 26th birthday (in 2015) in front of family and close friends. With the help of my Mum he had arranged for a surprise birthday lunch BBQ. After we finished the formalities (cutting the cake), Owen piped up for a little speech and before I knew it he was down on one knee.

MHP_8653bWhat are you most looking forward to about being married?
We already have a lot of stability in our relationship (being together for 7 years, owning a house for 2 years, and having a child), but I am excited for the last steps – wearing the rings, referring to each other as ‘husband’ and ‘wife’, changing my last name and just knowing that we have made the highest commitment possible to one another.

Marriage to us means…
Marriage to us means loyalty – standing up for one another, granting the benefit of doubt, being a team, making decisions together, letting go of selfishness and putting each other’s growths first. Marriage is about playing many roles to keep the household functioning and supportive – leaning on each other, having faith in each other’s abilities and loving unconditionally.

The most challenging part about wedding planning so far has been…
A little bit of everything – from determining colours, venues, the guest list, budget and most importantly the dress! I find myself making lists miles long, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

MHP_8596The most enjoyable part about wedding planning so far has been…
Selecting ‘the dress’ with my mum and bridesmaids. We went for a trip down to Gladstone Bridal, when the dress was finally selected and I went to pay a deposit, my mum sat me down and gave me a card to read. It was a beautiful message from my Dad and Mum and Grandma which included money towards the dress.
