How did Miss M Photography come to be?
My journey into photography started when my son was born – I always loved taking photos and capturing natural and un-posed images. Since then, photography has been my ‘happy place’ and allowed me to cope with the stress and tragedy experienced in my career as a police officer. I would often pick up my camera and take photos of anything that was happy… families, kids, whale watching tours, my dogs, flowers, the beach, carnivals, festivals or my own kids.

I started my business a few years ago and really just ran it as a hobby business because it was purely something I loved to do. I kept getting bookings and I was ‘hounded’ to start shooting weddings and so my partner Grant and I started photographing weddings last year. We both work so well together and we just click (pun intended!). He can read my hand signals from a mile away when I am asking him to bring me a particular lens or get a specific shot.

We advertised in January 2015 that we were going to start photographing weddings and had 6 weddings booked before we knew it!
What do you love most about being a professional wedding photographer?
I am such a romantic… I love that there is so much love and happiness surrounding the wedding day. From the moment I have my first meeting with my brides and grooms, there is just this happy energy surrounding the two people who are planning their ‘happy-ever-afters’.

Wedding photography is intense because it’s so important that we capture the images the client has asked for. I love that we have had clients who are willing to entrust us to photograph their special day.

It’s incredibly important to me to capture natural and beautiful pictures as they happen. I love that I can provide a service to brides and grooms so that I can just turn up on the day, do my job, and they can walk away with gorgeous, artistic and heartfelt images.

What is the most important thing for brides to remember on their wedding day from a photographer’s perspective?

To just enjoy the day and relax. I have photographed weddings where I have been with the bride all day long, and they just can’t believe how quickly the day goes by.

The message I try to get across to my brides is that after the wedding day, after all the dancing and eating and speeches and when everyone has gone home, you will walk away with two things – a husband and your wedding photos! It’s so important to hire someone you trust and someone who can deliver!

I also think it’s vital that the bride and groom trust their photographer and that there is chemistry between them because in all seriousness, at the end of the day the photographer is going to be like a second shadow, and if you can’t get along or take instruction and directions from your photographer, then it may jeopardise your whole experience and the photos you require.

Why should local brides choose you? What are your strengths and what makes you different to the competition?

I think my strengths are that I can get the job done. I am a person who just gets in and does what is needed! 17 years as a police officer has taught me a thing or two about communication and dealing with people! My personality is bubbly and cheerful and I do what is needed to get the images my clients require. No job is ever too big for me.

I am confident that I can produce elegant, and beautiful images that capture your story – so that you can share these images with the most important people in your life. I am a very relaxed photographer and confident I can share the story of my clients’ journey.

Explain where you are located and are you happy to travel?
I currently reside in the Bundaberg area. I have photographed weddings overseas (Noumea), on the Fraser Coast, Bundaberg area, Hervey Bay and Fraser Island. I have also photographed weddings on the Sunshine Coast and I am willing to travel for weddings.

What are the details of your packages?
I offer 4 packages at present, with the Liebe and Amore packages being my most popular. The beauty of these two packages is that clients receive an engagement session, USB containing all images provided, a beautiful professionally designed and created wedding album (14×10), loose and framed prints, and a minimum of 400 images on a custom made USB stick with no watermarks or logos.

All couples receive a print release which allows them to print their images wherever they like.

We trust you loved getting to know Sharon from Miss M Photography as much as we did! Head on over to her website to see more of her beautiful work and to get in touch for any upcoming shoots!
